Today should be interesting. I’m going to show up with cards and flowers for grandma and she’s not going to have a clue what it’s for. That’s okay, she can look at them all week long and hopefully remember that they are for her for Mother’s Day.
This week was so-so for grandma. My dad’s back home now so some evenings she was upstairs and some she was down. Him being home is confusing for her… I don’t think she’ll be able to “go on vacation” as much now–his presence will keep her grounded–some.
Yesterday she did pretty good… my nieces were visiting and she was very lucid, even when we got there! She knew both my brothers this time but couldn’t recall the name of one of my sisters-in-law. She knew it as soon as I said it.
My mom will soon have an afternoon to herself… the babysitter will be coming 2 days a week–my mom needs that break! Hopefully she won’t decide to spend all her afternoons at my house while I’m at work!! She should get out, do her shopping, run her much needed errands and meet a few people for coffee! She needs that too!!
Next weekend is our long weekend (Victoria Day) and they plan on taking her to the trailer for the weekend. My dad joked with her that this time she can pack for a week! I am pretty sure she didn’t get that!
We’ll see how she does… it might be her last. Mom is still, obviously, having difficulties letting go, even for a weekend.
